Knee pain treatment in Austin for active adults
Pain on stairs, in a squat, or a few miles into a run. Let's find why your knee keeps flaring up and build it back.
Most knee pain in active adults, like front-of-knee pain on stairs and squats or patellar tendon pain, gets better with the right strength work, not just rest. International guidelines recommend exercise therapy, including hip and knee strengthening, as the main treatment for front-of-knee pain, and exercise is a first-line treatment for knee arthritis too. We find what's overloading your knee and build it back up.

Common knee problems we see
• Front-of-knee pain on stairs, squats or lunges (often called runner's knee)
• Pain below the kneecap that flares with jumping or running (patellar tendon pain)
• Achy, stiff knees with early arthritis
• Knee pain that never fully settled after an old injury or PT
The knee often takes the blame for problems elsewhere. Weak hips, stiff ankles or a jump in training load can all push more stress through it than it's ready for.
Calm it, measure it, build it
Calm it down
Hands-on care, dry needling and focused shockwave for stubborn tendon pain, plus smart changes to your training so you keep moving.
Measure it
Assess how you squat, step and land with Kinetisense 3D motion capture and check strength side to side, so we know what's really limiting you.
Build it
Progressive strength for your knee and hip, loaded in the ranges that hurt until they don't.
Return
Back to running, hiking, your sport or your stairs, with clear checkpoints and a plan to keep it there.

Common questions
Should I stop running or squatting?+
Usually not completely. We'll adjust distance, depth or load while we build you back, so you don't lose fitness.
Do I need an MRI?+
Not usually to start. If your knee swelled up right after an injury, locks, or keeps giving way, we'll check it and refer you for imaging if needed.
What is focused shockwave?+
A non-invasive treatment that delivers focused acoustic pulses to irritated tendon tissue. We use it for stubborn tendon pain, always alongside a strength plan.
How long will it take?+
It depends on the problem and your goals. You'll get a clear timeline at your Root Cause Assessment.
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Your Root Cause Assessment tells us what's actually going on for you.
